4WD TO QUEEN VICTORIA SPRING

21 DAY ITINERARY - $TBA

Covering approximately 3,500kms into remote areas of several Australian States, this tour is a unique holiday presenting a very different view of Outback Western Australia and its’ mining history.

The vastness and the peace, remote deserts and mining towns Great Bush Tucker, campfires, sleeping under the stars Isolated ruins and outposts steeped in history.

Day 1-3: Departing Stockport 7.00am we head north stopping off at Coober Pedy. We then head out on the "Anne Beadell Highway" toward "Emu" and the old Atomic Test Sites. Overnight bush camps.

Day 4-6: Continuing on the Anne Beadell, we cross the border into Western Australia at the Serpentine Lakes, travel on to Neales Junction and through to Laverton. Overnight Bush Camp then on to the Laverton Caravan Park.

Day 7-9: Travelling on to Leonora, Lienster and Sandstone. Two nights in accommodation at Sandstone while we explore this historic gold mining area.

Day 10-11: After breakfast we head South for Menzies and then on to Niagara and Kookynie . Taking the Yarri Road and the Nippon Highway we head for Queen Victoria Spring Nature Reserve. This historic area is associated with much of the early exploration of Western Australia. Names such as Carnegie and Lindsay immediately come to mind. Overnight Bushcamp.

Day 12-14: Heading South again we take the PNC Baseline Road and then the Nippon Highway to the Trans Australia Railway. We then follow the Railway to Forrest and if possible stay in accommodation overnight.

Day 15-16: Taking the Reid road it is South again to Eucla and East along the Eyre Highway through the Border Village and on to Nullarbor. We will stop off for a bit of whale watching at the Head of The Bight and then on to Ceduna. At least one night is accommodated.

Day 17-18: We now take Goog’s Track through the Yellabina Regional Reserve up to Malbooma on the Railway once again. Then on to Tarcoola and Kingoonya. Overnight bush Camps.

Day 19-20: Down past Lake Gairdner and into the Gawler Ranges, we visit the Lake and the site of attempted land speed records on the vast salt lake surfaces. Overnight in Mt Ive Accommodation

Day 21: We head home, maybe visit the Arid Lands Park at Pt Augusta, down through the Clare Valley and back to Stockport for an enjoyable dinner and overnight stay at the Stables with your fellow travellers.

 

YOUR TOUR INCLUDES:

  • Pick up ex Adelaide Airport or Gawler Railway Station
  • Dinner, Bed and Breakfast at Stockport Stables before and after the trip.
  • Parking on premises if required.

  • On camping trips, we supply single pole tents, twin share (some singles available)
  • Meals, tea and coffee and refreshments while on the road.
  • Choice of Claret/Reisling with evening meal and a nightcap of Port.

  • Desert park pass fees, Obligatory Permits.
  • Map Pack of Specialist Maps for the Journey.

YOU NEED TO BRING:

  • Comfortable travelling clothes, sturdy shoes, warm jumper, parka, camera, sun block, towel/toiletries, all personal medications, hat, swimsuit, insect repellent, personal water bottle, torch and Wet Ones are a good idea (helps when shower not available)
  • Soft luggage bags (no suitcases) 1 – 2 per person, compact day pack (max 3 pcs).

YOUR EXPENSE:

  • Dinner, drinks and breakfast on Hotel/Motel stopovers.
  • Special interest Tours and associated Entrance Fees.
  • Beer:  Tour Leader purchases on route, chilling as needed.
  • Single Occupancy: - if available and pre-arranged.
  • We recommend current Medical/Accident and Travel Insurance.

VEHICLES & EQUIPMENT:

  • 4wd Nissan Station Wagons, equipped with UHF and HF Radio, stereo, air conditioning, long range fuel and water tanks, portable hot shower.
  • Heavy Duty Trailer, gas BBQ,  Engel Frig/Freezers, tools, electric winch/snatch straps, spares/tyres/tubes.
  • Global Positioning System and Satellite Phone.

MEMORABILIA:
